The Orion team has extensive experience and training in the plastics industry with in-depth knowledge ranging from equipment assembly to sheet extrusion processes. President

With more than 20 years of experience in the Plastics Industry, Stephen has been involved in all aspects of the business – operating manufacturing lines, supervising production, quality control, production scheduling, purchasing, product development, contract negotiation, management accounting, and corporate management. He has also served as a board member on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Plastics Sector Council (CPSC).

Stephen is a graduate of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology’s Plastics Processing Technician Program, and has completed the Management Essentials Program offered through the University of Alberta’s School of Business. He is also an active member of TEC Vistage International, and founding member of KEY 545 Edmonton, focusing on professional development, best practices and business development.

Greg Makar

VP of Sales & Marketing

Greg has been directing Orion’s sales and marketing activities for over 20 years.  His broad industry perspective and track record of finding innovative solutions to client challenges has earned him a reputation as one of the most trusted and respected marketers in the Industry. 

Greg is a graduate of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology’s Business Program with a focus on Sales and Small Business Development

Greg’s mandate has three components.  First, he carefully reviews prospective clients to assure they are a synergistic fit with Orion.  Second, he is expected to develop a deep relationship with his clients, so that he can be an effective advocate for them within Orion.  Finally, Greg acts as the client project manager in marshalling Orion’s resources ensuring clients get Orion’s very best shot in service delivery – good sheet, on time, every time.

VP of Operations

Nuno has been involved in the plastics sheet extrusion and thermoforming industry for more than 20 years. He has been involved in all aspects of the business; operating manufacturing lines, supervising all aspects of production, quality control, maintenance scheduling, production scheduling, product development, purchasing, contract negotiation, warehouse management, logistics, human resources and safety.

Nuno completed the Canadian Plastics Sector Council (Cert. PP) program in 2009, and has extensive experience in all areas of the organization.

Sales and Customer Support Manager

Joseph joined Orion Plastics in 2005 coming onboard to work as internal customer service representative. Joseph has a keen sense of “how things work” and with that his role has evolved to Sales and Customer Support Manager. Whether it is trouble-shooting a customer order, organizing production or working with logistics companies to ensure a client’s delivery needs are met, Joseph personifies the Orion Plastics belief of “adding value”.

Quality Manager

Since 2003 Lloyd has been an integral part of Orion Plastics. Lloyd’s plastics engineering diploma from Nait launched him immediately into a career as a machine operator with Orion. Over the years he has been involved with all facets of production, program development, new machine installation and our ISO program. This background has allowed Lloyd to take on the role of Quality Control Manager and pass his years of experience on to his fellow employees, ensuring the tradition of high quality is maintained each and everyday.

Production Manager

In 2003 Deon joined Orion Plastics as a machine operator, bringing with him his years of experience in related plastics extrusion. Deon’s background and his desire to refine the process of extrusion enables him to lead the way in his current role as Production Manager.

Deon is also Orion Plastics “lean” champion and has achieved his Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt. These tools allow Deon to ensure our clients receive the highest quality product on time every time.

2005 saw Sayed join the Orion Plastics team; bringing dedication, a hard work ethic and exceptional organization skills with him each and every day. These traits allowed him to move up through the ranks to where he is today, Logistics Manager & Safety Coordinator. Sayed’s comprehension of production, customer needs and understanding of logistics in North America ensures our products are delivered on time.

Maintenance Manager

In 2015 Shaun received his “Red Seal” as a Millwright in Alberta, just 2 years after starting his career with Orion Plastics. Shaun’s education, work experience and desire to do things the right way has allowed him to take on the roll as Orion’s Maintenance Manager. Whether it be trouble shooting equipment, scheduling shutdowns or working with contractors, Shaun ensures that Orion’s machinery is operating at peak levels to meet our clients needs.

After working for Orion Plastics as a contractor Pat joined the team full time in 2016. Pat’s vast understanding of accounting systems comes from her years of experience in various industries in Alberta.
